Slough
Our Slough site is the largest of the 3 sites and we currently have just under 600 members of staff working there. We have a research and development facility as well as a manufacturing plant and our role as a custom manufacturer is to develop and manufacture therapeutic proteins from mammalian cell culture for our customers.
We are in a good location with very easy access by road and train. We also run a shuttle bus from Slough train station to the site - so it's even easier to get to work!

Reading
Our laboratories based in Winnersh Triangle in Reading carry out analytical development work. The team are involved in all aspects of characterising and testing protein products for stability and shelf life prediction as well as bioactivity and function.
We have a shuttle service that runs between Slough and Reading throughout the day so that the main site is easily accessible to the scientists working in Reading.
Again the Reading labs have very good road links (just off junction 10 of the M4) and is on the Reading to London Waterloo train route.

Cambridge
The Advanced Protein Technology group became part of the Biopharmaceuticals business in July 2007 from the acquisition of AggreSolveTM by Lonza Biologics plc. The team concentrates on computational, cell and molecular biology and provides services around protein improvement and designing developability (quality by design). The site is located in the Babraham Campus, Cambridge.

Both Slough and Reading are in easy travelling distance to London and Windsor, and Cambridge is a city which offers a vast number of attractions.

Our site in Wokingham is a sales, marketing and distribution centre for Lonza Bioscience products and services that are used in the diagnostic, biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. On site there is warehouse, customer services, technical support and finance departments. This divison of the business also has 10 sales reps who are based in the field and cover the 3 main business units of Lonza Bioscience, namely Cell Discovery and Molecular Biology; Rapid Testing; and Media.

Industrial Placement Students

| Each year Lonza Biopharmaceuticals takes on a number of university students to work for us as part of the 3rd year of their sandwich degree. The placements last for a period of 12 months and provide an excellent opportunity to pick up a whole host of new skills and lab techniques. Our students leave with fantastic experience that helps them both in their studies and in the future within the workplace. |
