Lonza started its business in China since 1995, then successively set up 7 companies during the past years, which are Lonza Guangzhou Ltd., Lonza Liyang Chemical Co., Ltd., Lonza Guangzhou Nansha Ltd., Lonza (China) Investments Co., Ltd., Lonza Guangzhou Research & Development Center Ltd., Lonza Nanjing Ltd. and Lonza Guangzhou Engineering & Consulting Co., Ltd.

Lonza (China) Investments Co., Ltd. was established on September 23, 2003 and is wholly owned by Lonza Group Ltd. The company aims to invest and re-invest in the pharmaceutical, chemical and life science areas. Lonza companies in China are all under the management of Lonza (China) investments Co., ltd. except Lonza Guangzhou Engineering & Consulting Co., Ltd.

Lonza Guangzhou Engineering and Consulting Co., Ltd was created in January 2009, which is wholly owned by Lonza Engineering Ltd and provides customer oriented services with a professional, experienced and highly motivated engineering team.

Training & Development

On-boarding Program

With the rapid growth of Lonza China, around 200 new employees has joined us since 2009.In order to help them fit in and have a better understanding of their roles, we have provided them a series of on-boarding programs, which includes 2 main parts:




Introductory Course
  • Culture of Lonza
  • Lonza History and HR policies & regulations
  • IT Knowledge
  • Finance Knowledge
  • Safety, Health & Environment Management
  • GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice)


On Job Training

OJT is coordinated and implemented by line department, lasting 1 to 3 months. The duration depends on the new employee’s position and responsibility. Generally, OJT covers department’s overall introduction and the position’s requirements, such as SOP (Standard Operation Procedures) training. OJT always include theory introductions and practices.

On boarding program is helpful for new employees to adapt to their new roles and meanwhile motivate them to grow together with Lonza.



Training Programs for Existing Staff
By the end of each year, HR will form Yearly Training Plan according to the training demands submitted by every department, aiming to help improve staff’s personal skills and competencies. We offer both internal and external training resource to support the training programs. The training plan covers the following areas:

  • Certificate Training
  • SOP Training
  • Language Training
  • Overseas Training
  • Safety Training
  • Seminars & Forums, etc.


Fresh Graduate Program
We conduct a series of training for fresh graduates 6 months after they enter into the company, helping them to smoothly transfer their role from students to professionals. The training includes:
  • How to be Professionals;
  • Time Management;
  • Working in Highly Efficient Way;
  • Communication Skills;
  • Email Skills.


Besides that, we organize team building activities to enhance their team work and provide chance for them to communicate with senior staff, sharing their experience in career development (see picture below).

Competitive Salary
  • Lonza’s compensation package is designed to provide our employees with base compensation, set to market average with performance based variable pay which provides employees the opportunity to earn above market average in total compensation.
  • Total compensation is influenced by factors such as business performance, individual performance, internal equity, legal requirements, function and position level. These are benchmarked to market average against clearly defined markets while considering internal equity.
  • We are driving for a performance based compensation mechanism, consistent high performers will earn not only high compensation level but also more opportunities to learn grow.
  • Annual Salary Review is conducted in April each year; salary adjustment will be made under the consideration of company’s business performance, individual performance, CPI, integrated with the salary survey market trend.
  • We are open in the communication of how our reward structure is defined and the process used for decision making.
  • The 13th Month Guaranteed Bonus and Short Term Incentive Plan bonus will be paid in the 1st quarter of next year; for new joiners it will be prorated based on the actual working days of your first employment year.

  • Employee will be on different working schedule according to the requirement of his position. Standard working schedule is 40 hours a week. Employees here enjoy official holiday and annual leaves.

To be considered for the Internship Program, you need to be in good academic standing with exceptional leadership, communication, and self-motivational skills. These programs are a primary source for hiring regular full-time employees.

Internship program
Lonza's internship program provides hands-on, career-specific experience working full-time, usually during summer breaks. Intern opportunities are generally available in all major areas of Lonza for students majoring in the disciplines in which we recruit: engineering, science and business.

Technician internship program
Lonza (China) works closely with technical schools and colleges around the country to give talented students hands-on experience in their chosen field. This allows both the students and Lonza the opportunity to evaluate future career possibilities. The intern program is a primary source for hiring regular full-time employees.
Lonza’s internship program usually takes place during the summer breaks, but can also occur at other times. Students are given defined projects that can be completed during the internship and are mentored by experienced Lonza technicians.
Opportunities are available in all major areas of Lonza for process, production, instrumentation, electrical, and mechanical technical students.
To be considered, you need to be enrolled in one of the noted discipline technology programs and be in good academic standing. Strong leadership, communication and self-motivation skills are preferred.

We set up scholarship in Nanjing Industry University and Nanjing University of Science and Technology to Expand notability in the two Universities to attract talented person in university.
